Q. Is it ok to wear a felt hat during the Spring and Summer? I have heard that you are not supposed to wear felt during these seasons.
The wearing of either felt or straw is really up to the individual. With that said most people will change from felt to straw on Easter and will change back to felt when temperatures start dropping (no real exact date). Again it's really up to you (felt hats are hotter in the summer).
Q. I am interested in buying a pair of your boots and I was just wondering are all of your boots completely real leather? If so where do you get the hides from?
Thank you for your question. Most all of our adult boots are all leather. As for where the hides come from. Each boot company has a tannery that they get there own leathers from.
Q. My daughter got her brand new boots completely covered in mud & manure. They are Ariat Fat Babies. How do I get them cleaned?
Try cleaning them with either Dawn or Joy dish washing soap. Just a little soapy water. Wash them, let them dry, and put leather conditioner on them. If she plans on wearing them in that type of area, spray them with water protection and stain protection. Both the conditioner and spray we carry.
Q. Is there ANY way to remove an oil based stain from leather?
With out knowing exactly what kind of leather and what kind of oil (motor, cooking, etc) you have I will answer based on general cowhide leather. One way is to try lava soap (do not scrub hard) light lather of the soap will most times lift oil out of the leather. A good preventative measure is to spray boots with water and stain protector, this will provide a barrier to help keep oils out.
Q. How does the pack max saddle rig up to your horse? Do you use a saddle or does it come with straps?
The Trail Max Pack a Saddle comes with two different options. It is able to be used over the top of a regular western saddle, or you can change out the middle section and it can the be used with a standard cross-buck style pack saddle. This makes it extremely versatile. You can use it on a pack animal or quickly change it to be used on a riding animal.
Q. Do your mens boots come in narrow widths?
We do carry boots in B, A, AA, AAA in some brands and styles. On the web site check out the Lucchese, Rios Of Mercedes, Anderson Bean, Double H and a very few Ariat. When looking at them click on the the size you need and then the width, the available widths will show up.
Q. What are the different types of toe shapes available in boots?
There are as many different names for the various types of toe shapes as there is for the boot vendors which name them. However, these are the most commonly known in the industry.
1) U-Toe, The preferred toe type in West Texas. A U shaped toe, very round and broad in appearance;
2) R-Toe, The most commonly offered and chosen in western boots with medium round toe;
3) J-Toe, Sharper toe in appearance versus the R-toe with a rounded tip;
4) X-Toe, A very sharp pointed toe often referred to as the roach killers;
5) Roper Toe, This toe is a little rounder in appearance than that of the R-toe, but is the toe on all Roper style boots.
6) Chip Toe, the toe often chosen by the true working cowboy. A very blunt and squared off toe.
Q. How do I ensure I order the right size of belt?
Belts are made in even sizes, such 32", 34", 36" and so on. You should always go up one size in a belt versus the waist size of your pants. If you wore a size 32" waisted jean, you would need to order a 34" belt.
